Altus Advisory Partners was pleased to have been selected to participate in the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) 127th Annual Meeting (November 2-4) in Orlando, FL. Altus founder and CEO, Scott Lurding, served as a panelist for a session titled “Beyond Graduation: Facilitating University Partnerships for Student Post-graduation Outcomes” on Monday, November 3, 2014. He discussed how Altus helps its client develop genuine partnerships with the employer community, and best practices for universities to improve student employment outcomes.
In an environment where the public has begun to question the value of a college education, parents and students are focused on the kind of jobs available to graduates of baccalaureate programs. As a result, universities are realizing that they must do more to ensure post-secondary outcomes. This session discussed the role of institutions in developing programs that increase post-graduation success for students. It included strategies that universities can use to partner with employers to help universities understand and respond to the skill sets and educational needs of their regional employers, thus making its students more attractive for internships and full-time employment. This session also examined how universities can facilitate other post-secondary outcomes for students that include graduate school and public service.
